Lintel and Arch Repairs
Maystone Structural use both traditional and modern methods to repair failed lintels and arches.
Lintels and arches form a structural load bearing element between two vertical supports, typically over doors and windows and can be made from timber, concrete, steel and masonry which are all susceptible to failure due to corrosion or movement within the structure. Some structures rely solely on the window or door frame to provide sufficient support for the masonry above and problems often arise when these are replaced with UPVC units of which most do not have sufficient load bearing capabilities.
Our teams will asses the best approach and will either completely replace the lintel using an appropriate material subject to the buildings age and build type. Rebuild the arch using traditional methods of masonry and where possible original brick or stone will be cleaned and reinstated. Or reinforce the existing masonry using a modern solution of structural bars and ties which will redistribute the loads to the vertical supports and tie the masonry back together.
